Who are we?
We are the Coming Home team. A young international team with people desiring one thing: See people’s lives transformed. Especially from those on the edge of society. In our day center close to the center of Targu Mures it is all about the visitors. Visitors can be homeless people, (former) street children or teenagers, prostitutes, (teenage)mothers, children not going to school and all kind of other marginalized persons. Our vision is to build a relation with our visitors and elevate them by calling on self-responsibility. We are looking for what they have and not directly providing for the things they are not having. Team members are connecting with local employers to find honest jobs for the visitors. ID papers are arranged. Coaching provided in court cases. Prisoners visited. And many more things.
The ‘second chance’ education program i s another great example for the vision to elevate the needy. Children who never went to school are getting a the chance to finish school. This program is functioning under the responsibility of a state school.
The mission of Coming Home is alive since 2002 and since 2011 the organization is functioning as an association. On this moment all activities are fully supported from western countries. Our dream is to get the Romanian society and authorities more and more involved in sustaining and initiating the activities.
